The NanoIC pilot line, hosted by imec, is a cornerstone initiative under the European Chips Act, designed to reinforce Europe’s leadership in semiconductor technology. Acting as a bridge between cutting-edge research and industrial application, NanoIC provides a beyond-2nm System-on-Chip (SoC) pilot line for advanced logic, memory, and interconnect technologies.
In an interview with Innovation News Network, Inge Asselberghs, program director at imec, explained how NanoIC is accelerating innovation across Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem, highlighting the pilot line’s role in driving pre-competitive R&D, enabling collaboration among industry, research institutes, and academia, and providing early access to advanced technologies.
Inge Asselberghs also highlights NanoIC’s commitment to building a skilled workforce through training programs and partnerships, while paving the way for next-generation architectures in logic, memory, and interconnect.
