NanoIC European Spring School on Advanced CMOS

March 05 - 06, 2026 | imec, Leuven, Belgium

In-depth exploration of advanced CMOS technology, and networking opportunities with peers and professionals across Europe.

This event directly follows imec’s Student Excellence Day, March 4th 2026. We can highly recommend students to combine both events to benefit the broader introduction about the semiconductor industry before attending the Spring School.

Discover the exciting world of Advanced CMOS

Imec invites students, scientists, and engineers to participate in the NanoIC Spring School on Advanced CMOS 2026, offering a technical deep dive into topics including – but not restricted to – process integration, materials science, characterization, test structures and vehicles, and patterning.

Why attend?

After a successful winter 2025 edition focused on patterning, imec is proud to invite you to the upcoming NanoIC Spring School on Advanced CMOS.

Registrations will open on Monday, January 19, 2026

The technical sessions will allow the participants to acquire a solid understanding of semiconductor technology through topics such as:

  • CMOS fundamentals
  • Logic scaling
  • Materials science for advanced CMOS (semiconductors, dielectrics, S/D epitaxy and contact metals)
  • Advanced Patterning techniques
  • Process integration for Gate-All-Around (nanosheet), forksheet, and CFET
  • Materials characterization, metrology and inspection
  • Test structures and test vehicles for CFET
  • Electrical characterization and reliability for FETs
  • Sustainability in IC manufacturing

 Additionally, participants will receive:

  • An overview of the NanoIC project
  • An in-depth look into imec: its history, its activities, as well as the current offer of PhD calls, internships, and job openings
  • A cleanroom window tour (1h)

The schedule will be rounded up with various networking opportunities.

  • Accommodation reimbursement is capped at EUR 100 per night, with a maximum of 2 nights when attending a single event (either the NanoIC Student Excellence Day or the Spring School), or up to 3 nights when attending both the NanoIC Spring School and Student Excellence Day.
  • In order to be eligible for reimbursement, students must provide:
    • a registration certificate or official proof of enrollment in a university program
    • official invoices for travel (e.g. boarding pass, train ticket) and accommodation expenses (hotel invoice).
  • After having attended the Student Excellence Day, you will receive an invitation via mail (in the week of March 9 – March 13) to use our external reimbursement app. Via this way, you can upload your transportation and accommodation expenses. Reimbursement requests will only be processed if complete documentation is provided by March 31st.

NanoIC pilot line

This event is organized with the funding of the European Union's Horizon Europe initiative 101183277, which aims to support the NanoIC European pilot line for research, innovation, and communication related to beyond 2nm leading edge System-on-Chip technology across the value chain.
